Dashboards provide two types of controls. Use Number Range Slicer, Date Range Slicer, and Category Slicer to allow people who view the dashboard to filter graphs and tables to show a subset of the data. Use Form to allow people who view the dashboard to add data to a Minitab Connect table.

Number Range Slicer, Date Range Slicer, and Category Slicer

Use these three controls to display data on the dashboard only within a specified range or group. For each slicer, use the pane on the right side of the screen to specify one or more variables to control the display. Once you select a variable, the title of the control uses the name of the variable. Use the Title control on the pane to change the title.

When you are in Edit mode, you can select preset values for the slicer in the pane. After you save the dashboard, the slicer uses the preset values you specify as the default values when in Preview mode. You can adjust these values in Preview mode, but the slicer reverts to the preset values when you refresh the dashboard or begin a new session. If you want to change the default values for the slicer, you must do so in Edit mode.

Note

The dashboard does not display the asset if the slicer filters out all the data. If you add multiple variables to a slicer, the dashboard does not display the asset if you filter out all the data for one of the variables, even if the slicer does not filter all the data for other variables.

Form

Add a form to allow anyone with access to the dashboard to add data to a Minitab Connect table. The published form is the same on the dashboard as within Connect. For information on how to create a form to add to the dashboard, go to Add a new form.
