Select multiple shapes

To select multiple shapes to format, do one of the following:

  • Press Shift or Ctrl as you select each shape.
  • Drag the pointer around the shapes that you want to select.

Format the lines, fill, or text of a shape

  • Right-click the shape, choose Format, and then choose a format option.
  • To use the same set of formatting options more than once, use Quick Format. For more information, see Formatting.

Resize a shape

  1. Select the shape.
  2. Drag a selection handle to modify the size of the shape. To resize the shape proportionally, press Shift as you drag the selection handle.

Align shapes

  1. Select the shapes.
  2. Choose Actions > Align and choose an alignment option.

Fit a shape to its label (process maps only)

  1. Select one or more shapes.
  2. Choose Actions > Fit to Text and choose a fit option.

Adjust the spacing between shapes

  1. Select the shapes.
  2. Choose Actions > Space Evenly and choose a spacing option.

Make shapes the same size

  1. Select the shapes.
  2. Choose Action > Make Same Size and choose a sizing option.

Rotate shapes or text

  1. Select the shape or the text box. You can also rotate a department label or a phase label.
  2. Choose Actions > Rotate and choose a rotation option.

Order a shape

  1. Select the shape to order.
  2. Choose Actions > Order and choose an order option.

Change a shape (process maps only)

When you change a shape on a process map, the new shape has the same position, size, alignment, formats, and data of the original shape.

  1. Select the shape.
  2. Choose Actions > Change Shape and choose a shape.

Group and ungroup shapes

Do one of the following:

  • Select two or more shapes and choose Actions > Grouping > Group.
  • Select a group and choose Actions > Grouping > Ungroup.

Add a label to a connector

  1. Select the connector.
  2. Type the label text.
  3. To reposition the text, right-click the connector, choose Position Label, and then choose a position.

Move a connector's end point

  1. Select the connector.
  2. Move the pointer over the end of the connector until this icon appears.
  3. Drag the endpoint to the other shape.
  4. Release the mouse button when the red square appears on the other shape.

Move a right-angle connector's midpoint

  1. Select the connector.
  2. Move the pointer over the midpoint of the connector until this icon appears.
  3. Drag the midpoint to the new location and release the mouse button.

Revert a connector to its original path (process maps only)

If you adjust a connector's midpoint, you can revert the connector to its original path. In the example below, the connector's midpoint was adjusted to accommodate the green shape. When the green shape was deleted, the connector path was reverted.

  • Right-click the connector and choose Reroute Connector.
