Predict new results for MARS® Regression

Run Predictive Analytics Module > MARS® Regression. Select Predict at the end of the results.
Note

This command is available with the Predictive Analytics Module. Click here for more information about how to activate the module.

Select the option that best describes your data.

You can use prediction values that are stored in a worksheet, or you can enter individual values. Prediction values do not have to be in the same worksheet as the data that Minitab Statistical Software used to fit the model, but must be in the active worksheet. Select the worksheet that contains the prediction values before you select the Predict button.

Enter columns of values

Complete the following steps if your prediction values are in columns.

  1. From the drop-down list, select Enter columns of values.
  2. Enter the columns that contain your prediction values. You must have one column for each predictor. The predictor columns must be the same length and must be the same type as the original predictor variable. If the predictor was never missing in the training data for the model, the calculation imputes missing predictor values. The value depends on the type of predictor:
    Type Value
Categorical Last value of the predictor in the worksheet that Minitab Statistical Software used to fit the model.
    Continuous Mean of the predictor

By default, Minitab stores the prediction statistics in the same worksheet as the prediction values.

Enter individual values

Complete the following steps if your prediction values are not in columns.

  1. From the drop-down list, select Enter individual values.
  2. Enter individual prediction values. You can enter up to 3 values for each predictor. To make more than 3 predictions, enter the data for the predictions in columns in a worksheet.
