Goodness-of-fit test for Tolerance Intervals (Nonnormal Distribution)

Minitab provides tolerance intervals for the distribution that you choose. If your data follow the chosen distribution, you can use the parametric method which is more precise and generally requires smaller sample sizes than the nonparametric method. Use the p-values from the goodness-of-fit test to determine whether the distribution you have chosen is appropriate for your data.

For a goodness-of-fit test, the hypotheses are as follows:
  • H0: The data follow the chosen distribution.
  • H1: The data do not follow the chosen distribution.
