Allocate the gap pools for Allocate Gap Pools

Six Sigma > Design for Manufacturability > Allocate Gap Pools

After you use Calculate Gap Pools, you need to allocate the gap pools.

  1. In the worksheet, enter the column or columns that contain the allocation weights for the gap pools. The weights must be between 0 and 1, and must sum to 1.

If you enter only a lower specification for the gap, which is the default analysis, then Minitab calculates a mean pool. If you enter both upper and lower specifications for the gap, then Minitab calculates a variance pool. To see an example, go to Data sets that are used in Six Sigma module help.

  2. Choose Six Sigma > Design for Manufacturability > Allocate Gap Pools.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • In Allocation weights for Gap mean pool, enter the column that contains the gap mean allocation weights.
    • In Allocation weights for Gap variance pool, enter the column that contains the gap variance allocation weights.
  4. To store the adjusted means, select Store adjusted means. To store the adjusted standard deviations, select Store adjusted standard deviations.
  5. Click OK.
