Enter your data

To specify the data for the analysis, complete the following steps.

  1. In Defectives, enter the column of count data that you want to analyze.
  2. Under Sample size, select an option and specify the sample size:
    • Constant size: Enter a value to use as the same sample size for all samples.
    • Use sizes in: Enter a column that contains the size of each sample. Use this option to specify samples of different sizes.
In this worksheet, Total Calls contains the total number of calls in each sample. Unanswered Calls contains the number of unanswered calls (defectives) in each sample of calls.

Historical p (optional)

If you know the proportion of defective items in the population, or if you have estimates for your process from past data, enter a value between 0 and 1 to indicate the historical proportion of defectives. For example, if the historical proportion of defective is 2.3%, enter 0.023.

If you do not enter a historical proportion, Minitab estimates the proportion from your sample data and uses the estimate to calculate process capability.

Target

If you have a target %defective for your process, enter the value to use for the analysis. For example, if the percentage of defectives in your process should not exceed 1%, enter 1.

If you do not enter a target value, Minitab assumes that the target is 0% defectives.
