Which quality tools are included in Minitab?

Minitab offers several quality tools to help you explore and detect quality problems and improve your process.
Run chart

To detect patterns in your process data, and perform four tests for nonrandom behavior, create a run chart. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Run Chart.

Pareto chart

To identify which of your process problems are most common, so that you can concentrate your improvement efforts on areas where the largest improvements can be made, create a Pareto chart. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Pareto Chart.

Cause-and-effect diagram

To organize brainstorming information about the potential causes of a problem, create a cause-and-effect diagram. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Cause-and-Effect.

Tolerance intervals (Normal distribution)

To compute a range of values for a product's characteristic that likely covers a specified minimum percentage of current or future product output, create tolerance intervals. Use Tolerance intervals (Normal distribution) when your data come from a normal distribution or to calculate an interval that does not use a distribution. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Tolerance Intervals (Normal Distribution).

Tolerance intervals (Nonnormal distribution)
To compute a range of values for a product's characteristic that likely covers a specified minimum percentage of current or future product output, create tolerance intervals. Use Tolerance intervals (Nonnormal distribution) to calculate either an interval that does not use a distribution or an interval that uses one of the following distributions:
  • Lognormal
  • Gamma
  • Exponential
  • Smallest extreme value
  • Weibull
  • Largest extreme value
  • Logistic
  • Loglogistic
In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Tolerance Intervals (Nonnormal Distribution).
Multi-vari chart

To provide analysis of variance data in graphical form, create a multi-vari chart. Multi-vari charts display up to 4 factors. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Multi-Vari Chart.

Variability chart

To provide analysis of variance data in graphical form, create variability charts. Variability charts plot standard deviations and means and can display up to 8 factors. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Variability Chart.

Symmetry plot

To assess whether your data come from a symmetric distribution, create a symmetry plot. In Minitab, choose Stat > Quality Tools > Symmetry Plot.
