Marginal fits and residuals versus conditional fits and residuals

The marginal fits are the fitted values for the overall population. Use the marginal fits to predict response values for any future batch. The marginal residual for an observation equals the observed value of the response minus the marginal fitted value of the response.

The conditional fits are the fitted values for a specific batch. Use the conditional fits to explore differences among the specific batches in the study. The conditional residual for an observation equals the observed value of the response minus the conditional fitted value of the response.
