Overview for Descriptive Statistics (Tables)

Use Descriptive Statistics (Tables) to generate a table of count statistics for categorical variables and summary statistics for associated, numeric variables.

For example, a medical researcher wants to summarize the mean weight and blood pressure for patients who have diabetes, by gender and by other categorical variables.

Where to find this analysis

To create a table of summary statistics, choose Stat > Tables > Descriptive Statistics.

When to us an alternate analysis

If you want to calculate summary statistics for a column of data, use Display Descriptive Statistics.
If you want to determine whether categorical variables are associated, use Cross Tabulation and Chi-Square.
