Specify the design for Create Taguchi Design

Stat > DOE > Taguchi > Create Taguchi Design > Designs

Complete the following steps to specify the number of runs for your Taguchi design. You can also add a signal factor, if you have a dynamic response.

For more information on static and dynamic designs, go to Taguchi designs. For more information on factors, go to Factors in Taguchi designs.

  1. Select the number of runs for your Taguchi design. For example, if you have a 3-level design with 4 factors, you can choose one of the following designs.
    • An L9 design has 9 runs. 34 means 4 factors at 3 levels.
    • An L27 design has 27 runs. 34 means 4 factors at 3 levels.
A mixed-level design is more complicated. For a mixed-level design, you must specify both the number of factor levels and the number of experimental runs. For example, if you have a mixed-level design with 2 factors, you can choose one of the following designs.
    • An L8 design, which has 8 runs, with one 4-level factor (41) and one 2-level factor (21).
    • An L16 design, which has 16 runs, with one 8-level factor (81) and one 2-level factor (21).
    • An L18 design, which has 18 runs, with one 2-level factor (21) and one 3-level factor (31).
    • An L18 design, which has 18 runs, with one 6-level factor (61) and one 3-level factor (31).
  2. (Optional) Select Add a signal factor for dynamic characteristics, if you want to add a signal factor for a dynamic response. If you add a signal factor, you must click Factors to specify the signal factor name and level values.
