Sampling plan preferences

Users with engineer privileges can specify default preferences for all sampling plans.

Collection method

This global setting sets the default data collection method for all sampling plans. Select Analysis Preferences in the Engineering portal, then navigate to Sampling Plans > Default Collection Method.

Specify the default data collection method for all sampling plans.
  • Use Automatic when all the data for a sampling plan are in a single Minitab Connect data table.
  • Use Data Collection Form to specify the data source for each measure and descriptor with a combination of data entry methods.

For more information on the collection methods and detail on how to change the default collection method by sampling plan, go to Overview of data collection methods for sampling plans.

Specification range indicator

This global setting sets the default specification range indicator for all sampling plans. Select Analysis Preferences in the Engineering portal, then navigate to Sampling Plans > Specification Range Indicator.

Data collection forms can display the range of acceptable measurements if you specify the specification limits for continuous measures. This setting applies to all data collection forms in your subscription.

Measurements that are out-of-specification show a warning, so you can assign a special cause or add comments.

Display sampling instructions

You can choose to display available sampling instructions automatically for measures and descriptors during the data collection process. By default, instructions are off on each data collection form unless you use preferences to turn them on by default.
  1. Select Analysis Preferences in the Engineering portal, then navigate to Sampling Plans > Sampling Instructions.
  2. Select Display measure instructions to display available measure instructions on every form.
  3. Select Display descriptor instructions to display available descriptor instructions on every form.
  4. Save your changes.

This example shows the Instructions on for all data collection forms.
