Interpret the count statistics for categorical variables for Descriptive Statistics (Tables)

You can choose to arrange categorical variables into rows or columns. You can organize variables to emphasize a relationship, or you can create a more compact display for a report. For more information on different table layouts, go to Arrangement of output tables.

At the bottom of each table, Minitab displays the Cell Contents, which indicates the statistics and their order in the cell. For count statistics, you can display the count, row percents, column percents, and total percents.

This table contains categorical count summaries for gender and activity level. In each cell, Minitab displays the counts, the row percents, the column percents, and the total percents, classified by gender and activity level.

The first cell shows that the study includes 5 females who have a high activity level (count). These 5 females represent the following:

14.29% of all the females in this study have a high activity level (row percent).
23.81% of all the study subjects who have a high activity level are female (column percent).
5.49% of all study subjects are female and have a high activity level (total percent).
