Each sample is in a column

Complete the following steps if your data are in two columns of the worksheet:

  1. From the drop-down list, select Each sample is in a column.
  2. In Sample 1, enter the first column of numeric data that you want to analyze.
    Tip

    Click in Sample 1 to see the columns that are available for your analysis.

  3. In Sample 2, enter the second column of numeric data that you want to analyze.
In this worksheet, Before contains the resting heart rates of patients before they started a running program. After contains the resting heart rates of the same patients after the running program.

Summarized data (differences)

Complete the following steps if you have summary statistics for the differences between the two samples, rather than actual sample data in the worksheet:

  1. From the drop-down list, select Summarized data (differences).
  2. Enter the summary statistics in Sample size, Sample mean, and Standard deviation.
