Enter your data

Complete the following steps to enter your data. For more information on censored data, go to Data censoring.

  1. In Variables, enter the columns that contain the failure times or censoring times. You can enter up to 50 columns (for 50 different samples).
  2. If you have frequency data for each variable, in Frequency columns (optional), enter a column that indicates the number of units for each failure time or censoring time.
  3. If all the samples are stacked in one column, select By variable and enter a column of grouping indicators. For example, you might enter a column to indicate different locations or a change in design.
In this worksheet, the Time column contains the failure or censoring times. The Censor column contains the censoring indicators: an F designates an actual failure time; a C designates a unit that was removed from the test, and thus censored.

Specify distribution analysis

Specify the distribution analysis for the overview plot:
  • Parametric analysis: Fit your data with one of 11 parametric distributions. From Distribution, select a distribution model to use for the overview plots. Base your decision on process knowledge or an evaluation of distribution fit using a distribution ID plot. For more information on choosing a distribution model, go to Distribution fit for reliability analysis.
  • Nonparametric analysis: Perform a nonparametric analysis. Use this option when you cannot assume that your data follow a parametric distribution.
