Date and time

Complete the following steps if the data for a T chart are dates and times in a column.

  1. From Form of data, Dates/Times of events or Time between events.
    Minitab calculates the amount of time between events and plots each value on the T chart.
  2. In Variables, enter one or more columns of date/time values. If you enter more than one column, Minitab creates a separate T chart for each column.

Time between events

Complete the following steps if the data are recorded as the time between events, also known as elapsed time.

  1. From Form of data, select Dates/Times of events or Time between events.
  2. In Variables, enter one or more columns of elapsed time values. If you enter more than one column, Minitab creates a separate T chart for each column.
In this worksheet, Elapsed time between falls contains the data. Time between events, also known as elapsed time, must be entered in the worksheet as hours, minutes, and seconds (hh:mm:ss format). If you do not record seconds, Minitab reads the seconds as 00. For example, Minitab reads the first value below as 80:25:00.

Number of intervals between events

Complete the following steps if the data are recorded as the number of intervals between events.

  1. From Form of data, select Number of intervals between events.
  2. In Units for intervals, select how the data are recorded, as Days or Hours.
  3. In Variables, enter one or more columns of values. If you enter more than one column, Minitab creates a separate T chart for each column.
In this worksheet, Days between patient falls contains the data. The number of days or hours must be greater than or equal to 0. A value of 0 indicates that two events happened simultaneously.
