Variability Chart for Perform Expanded Study

Use Variability Chart as a preliminary tool to investigate variation in your data, including cyclical variations and interactions between factors. The variability charts show the relationships between factors and responses.

Example

In this worksheet, Part contains the part number identifiers, Operator contains the operator identifiers, Machine contains the machine identifier, and Measurement contains the measurements of each part.

How-to

  1. Choose Solutions Modules > Capabilities > Measurement System Analysis, then select Launch.
  2. Under Destructive Gage R&R Study, select Select a Destructive Gage R&R Study.
  3. Select Perform expanded study, then click OK.
  4. Select Variability Chart, then click OK.
  5. In Responses, enter one or more columns that contain measurement data.
  6. In Factors (1-8, outermost first), enter the columns that contain the levels for the factors. The first variable is the outermost on the scale and the last variable is the innermost.
  7. (Optional) Select Standard deviation chart to display the standard deviation chart in addition to the default average response with variation chart.
  8. Click OK.
