Example

In this worksheet, Claim Status is the response. The response event is Denied. Amount of Claim is a continuous predictor, and Facility is a categorical predictor.

How-to

  1. From the Healthcare KPIs: Predict Claim Denials dialog box, select CART® Classification, then click OK.
  2. From the drop-down list, select Binary response.
  3. In Response, enter the column that contains the binary variable, claim status. Binary variables are categorical variables that have two possible levels, such as pass/fail or true/false. The response is also called the Y variable.
  4. In Response event, select the value that represents a claim denial.
  5. In Continuous predictors, enter the continuous variables that may explain or predict whether the payer denies the claim. The predictors are also called X variables.
  6. In Categorical predictors, enter the categorical classifications or group assignments, such as facility, that may explain or predict whether the payer denies the claim. The predictors are also called X variables.
  7. Click OK.
