Complete the following steps if the measurement data for a CUSUM chart are in one column.
- From the drop-down list, select All observations for a chart are in one column.
- Enter one or more columns of measurement data. If you enter more than one column, Minitab creates a separate CUSUM chart for each column.
- In Subgroup sizes, do one of the following:
- If all subgroups are the same size, you can enter the subgroup size (for example, 5).
- Enter a column of values that identifies which subgroup each measurement is from.
- In Target, enter the ideal value of a product parameter as determined by a customer, engineer, or manager.
CUSUM statistics are cumulative deviations from this target. The target value is usually (but not always) centered between the lower and upper specification limits. Ideally, the mean should be close to the target value.
In this worksheet, Length contains the length of parts, and Subgroup contains the subgroup indicators.
