Stop or start DDE transactions and remove DDE links

You can temporarily suspend the processing of DDE transactions and remove the links when they are not valid or useful anymore.

Globally stop and start DDE transactions

Sometimes, you might want to suspend the processing of DDE transactions. For example, you can suspend processing in order to analyze the data that already in the worksheet. Also, if many data transfers are occurring, temporarily stopping DDE transactions might improve the performance time of an analysis.

Important

While links are globally stopped, Minitab discards any incoming data. If you append data rather than replacing it, you might lose incoming data while a link is stopped.

Choose File > Options > DDE Links.
In Minitab as Client, do one of the following:
- To stop Minitab from responding to DDE requests, select Ignore external data updates.
- To resume, select Process external data updates.
In Minitab as Server, do one of the following:
- To stop Minitab from sending out updates, select Ignore external requests.
- To resume, select Process external requests.
Click OK.

Remove DDE links

When a link is deleted, all existing queued requests are processed, but no new requests are added.

Choose Edit > Worksheet Links > Manage Links.
Select the link.
Click Remove, then click OK.
