Complete the following steps to specify the number of runs for your Taguchi design. You can also add a signal factor, if you have a dynamic response.
For more information on static and dynamic designs, go to Taguchi designs. For more information on factors, go to Factors in Taguchi designs.
- Select the number of runs for your Taguchi design. For example, if you have a 3-level design with 4 factors, you can choose one of the following designs.
- An L9 design has 9 runs. 34 means 4 factors at 3 levels.
- An L27 design has 27 runs. 34 means 4 factors at 3 levels.
A mixed-level design is more complicated. For a mixed-level design, you must specify both the number of factor levels and the number of experimental runs. For example, if you have a mixed-level design with 2 factors, you can choose one of the following designs.
- An L8 design, which has 8 runs, with one 4-level factor (41) and one 2-level factor (21).
- An L16 design, which has 16 runs, with one 8-level factor (81) and one 2-level factor (21).
- An L18 design, which has 18 runs, with one 2-level factor (21) and one 3-level factor (31).
- An L18 design, which has 18 runs, with one 6-level factor (61) and one 3-level factor (31).
- (Optional) Select Add
a signal factor for dynamic characteristics, if you want to add a signal factor for a dynamic response. If you add a signal factor, you must click Factors to specify the signal factor name and level values.
