Restart an active project

Restart an active workflow project when you want to begin work again with a different methodology or when project requirements change. Only data architects and steering committee members can restart workflow projects.

Restart a project

When you restart a project, it is reset to the first phase of the newly selected methodology. The original project tools and documents are retained, but phase review data is removed. Restarting a project cannot be undone.

  1. In the web app, on the Workflow page, select Active.
  2. Expand the project to restart. Select Restart Project. If the project is checked out, you must check in the project before you can restart it.
  3. In the Restart Project dialog, update the methodology, project owner, review board, and phase dates as needed.
  4. Select Restart Project.
Note

You cannot restart Completed projects. Projects that are Canceled or Paused must be resumed before you can restart them. To resume a canceled or paused project, go to Pause or cancel an active project.

After the project is restarted

  • All user-entered project data, including names and email addresses of previous team members, are retained.
  • All phase review data, including review statuses, approval outcomes, rejection reasons, and phase due dates, are deleted.
  • All tools and related documents are moved to the folder named Tools Before Restart in the first phase of the restarted project. (You can reorganize or delete items in this folder as needed.)
