Specify the default settings for bar charts

File > Options > Individual Graphs > Bar Charts

Specify default settings for the gallery that appears when you choose Graph > Bar Chart and for stack order for bar charts. The changes you make to the defaults remain until you change them again, even after you exit Minitab.
Default Choice for the Bar Chart Gallery
  • Counts of unique values: Select if you typically have one or more columns of categorical data, and you want to chart the frequency of each category.
  • A function of a variable: Select if you typically have one or more columns of quantitative data, and you want to chart a function of the measurement data, such as the mean.
  • Values from a table: Select if you typically have one or more columns of summary data, and you want to chart the summary value for each category.
Show First Stack Group At
Specify how to display categories in a stacked bar chart or dotplot based on a column's value order:
  • Top of stack: Display the first group at the top of the stack. Display the remaining groups in descending order.
  • Bottom of stack: Display the first group at the bottom of the stack. Display the remaining groups in ascending order.
