Enter the information about the elements that make up the assembly, and how they come together to establish the gap.

Element names
Enter a column that contains names for the elements. If you do not enter names, the defaults are Element 1, Element 2, and so on.
Means
Enter a column that contains the means of the elements in the assembly.
Directional vectors
Enter a column that contains the directional vectors for the elements in the assembly.
Standard deviations
Enter a column that contains the standard deviations of the elements in the assembly (short-term standard deviations). If any of the standard deviations are missing, Minitab opens the Standard Deviation Estimator sub-dialog box.
Long-term PPM
Enter the PPM value that you want to obtain for the long-term gap distribution. The value you enter must be a positive number that is less than 1,000,000. The default is 3.397673, which corresponds to having a long-term gap Z = 4.5.
Gap Specifications
Minitab calculates statistics that indicate where the assembly stands, relative to the specification limits on the assembly gap. When you do not enter specification limits on the assembly, Minitab assumes a lower specification limit of 0.
Lower spec
Enter a positive or negative lower specification limit for the assembly gap. Minitab assumes that the gap has a lower specification. The default is 0.
Upper spec
Enter a positive upper specification limit for the assembly gap.
Nominal
Enter a positive nominal specification for the assembly gap. The default nominal specification is the midpoint between the upper and lower specification if you enter both specifications, or the gap mean if you enter only a lower specification.
