Example of Pairwise Differences

The following example shows how to calculate the differences between each possible pair of values from two columns.

  1. In the Data window, in rows 1 to 3 of C1, type 3 5 2. In rows 1 to 3 of C2, type 1.1 2.0 1.1.
  2. Choose Stat > Nonparametrics > Pairwise Differences.
  3. In First variable, enter C1.
  4. In Second variable, enter C2.
  5. In Store differences in, enter C3.
  6. Select Store indices in, then enter C4 and C5.
  7. Click OK.

Column C3 contains the pairwise differences. Columns C4 and C5 indicate the row of the values that Minitab uses to calculate the difference. For example, the first row of columns C4 and C5 indicate that Minitab used the first values in columns C1 and C2 to calculate the difference.
