Data considerations for Define Custom Taguchi Design

Consider the following guidelines when you define the design.

Create a Taguchi design first
You must have a Taguchi design in the worksheet before you can define the design.
The size of the design should be adequate
The sample size should be large enough so that the design has enough power to detect a practically important effect.
The design should have 2 to 50 control factors
Control factors are process or design parameters that you can control. Examples of control factors are equipment settings, material used to manufacture the product, or product design features.
If you have only one factor, you can use One-Way ANOVA without defining the design.
You must have a signal column if you want to define a dynamic Taguchi design

A signal factor is an input to the system that is intended to change the response. Signal factors are used in dynamic experiments, in which the response is measured at each level of the signal. The goal of the experiment is to improve the relationship between the signal factor and the response.

An example of a signal factor is gas pedal position. The response, the car's speed, should have a consistent relationship with the amount of pressure applied to gas pedal.
