Types of numeric data

The Minitab Data Center supports common data types of numeric, text, and date/time.
Numeric data columns can have one of the following types.
Automatic (Numeric)
This default numeric type uses the number of decimals from the source data table. If you want to change the number of decimals, select the Decimal type.
Integer
Rounds data values to the nearest integer value.
Decimal
Specify up to 12 decimals.
Currency
Specify the currency symbol and up to 12 decimal places.
Percentage
Specify up to 12 decimal places.
By default, Retain full precision keeps numeric precision. In the data grid, the numeric value displays as formatted, but the full precision value is retained to pass to other applications.
Note

If you deselect Retain full precision, the rounded values are passed to other applications. All numeric precision is lost.

You can revert to full precision if you undo or delete the corresponding change data type prep step.

To change a single column's data type, select Change Type from the Data Prep Options dropdown menu. For more information, go to Change column data type.
