Create and open Data Center projects

To work with data in the Minitab Data Center, create or open a Data Center project (.MDCX) file. Each project stores your data preparation steps, the source data reference, and the cleaned dataset.

Requirements

To use the Data Center, it is best to sign in to a supported repository:
  • Microsoft OneDrive®
  • Microsoft SharePoint®
  • Google DriveTM

Create a project

When you open a data source, a new Data Center project (.MDCX) is automatically created.

To open a dataset in the Data Center, complete the following steps.
  1. From the Solution Center home page, select Data Prep.
  2. Select Add Data.
  3. Sign in to supported repository.
  4. Browse to the file location, then select Open.
Preview your data and apply initial cleanup steps such as trimming leading and trailing spaces. The preview shows the results so you can decide whether additional column changes are needed.
Important

Changes in the Data Center do not affect the original file.
