Controls

Slicers limit the data shown on the dashboard to a specified range or category. There are three types of slicers:
  • Number Range Slicer
  • Date Range Slicer
  • Category Slicer
Note

If a slicer filters out all data, the dashboard does not display the affected asset. If a slicer includes multiple variables, the asset is hidden when any one of those variables filters out all data, even if other variables still have data available.

Number Range Slicer

Use Select one or more variables on the right side of the screen to specify one or more variables to control the display. Once you select a variable, the title of the control uses the name of the variable. Use the Title control on the pane to change the title.

The default range is the lowest and highest values from the variables that you select. Drag the slider or change the number in the box to update the range of values for the slicer. If you want a bound instead of a range, select less than or greater than. Select the Restore Default Settings icon to reset the slider to the default settings.

Date Range Slicer

Use Select one or more variables on the right side of the screen to specify one or more variables to control the display. Once you select a variable, the title of the control uses the name of the variable. Use the Title control on the pane to change the title.

Use Presets to select a time value to filter the dashboard. Select the Restore Default Settings icon to reset the slicer to the default settings. You can specify your own range if you do not want to select one of the options on the list.

Custom date range
Select your own Start date and End date. This date range is static, and does not update unless you manually change it. The minimum date is 01-01-1900 and the maximum date is 12-31-2099.
Relative time
Select a custom range that updates with your data. For example, if you select 12 for the Amount and Hours for the Unit, the date range will show the previous 12 hours from the time of the last update to the dashboard.
Standard time unit
Select from a list of standard time units, such as This week or Last month.

Category Slicer

Use Select one or more variables on the right side of the screen to specify one or more variables to control the display. Once you select a variable, the title of the control uses the name of the variable. Use the Title control on the pane to change the title.

Use Presets to select a text value to filter the dashboard. By default, you can only select one text value. Toggle Allow multiple values on to select more than one. Toggle Exclude 'All' option on to remove the option of selecting all text values. Select the Restore Default Settings icon to reset the slicer to the default settings.
