How do I configure the Minitab License Manager in a three-computer redundant setup?

Before starting, ensure that all three computers involved in the redundant host setup have network access to each other. All three computers should exist on the same subnet. These steps assume the three computers are all using a Windows operating system.
  1. Install the Minitab License Manager on each of the three computers in the redundant cluster.
  2. Note the MAC addresses of each of the three computers. If you do not know how to find the MAC address, go to Topic ID 2084.
  3. Create the license file on the Multi-User Licensing website by choosing the 3 Redundant Hosts option using the MAC addresses. The following code is an example of the license information:
    SERVER this_host 0003ff9856e5
    SERVER this_host 00065b1c9f5c
    SERVER this_host 000a5e4f9476
    VENDOR minitab
    INCREMENT Minitab minitab 17 31-dec-2014 1 VENDOR_STRING="limited \
term, limited users, borrowing enabled" DUP_GROUP=UH \
           ISSUER=Minitab BORROW=26280 NOTICE="Customer ID: 10801 \
           License Coord ID: 13800 RENI696126" SN="RENORD0033720 \
           278528INC" SIGN="0A7F DDB7 A94C 5020 B7F5 ACF4 F65E F4FE 69A4 \
           F176 A911 3E4A CCF3 2821 4CEF 06DD A436 CBED 1487 477E 50B5 \
           A211 C356 8356 5FBF E84C FE58 5F99 0594 EB6B"
  4. Open Notepad, and then copy and paste the license information into it.
  5. Change the first three lines of the license file. Replace the term, this_host, in each line with the name of the host computer. Also, specify the port number, 27000, after the MAC address. The following code is an example with host computer names and port numbers:
    SERVER Server1 0003ff9856e5 27000
    SERVER Server2 00065b1c9f5c 27000
    SERVER Server3 000a5e4f9476 27000
  6. From Save as type, choose All Files. Choose File > Save As. The Encoding field should be ANSI.
  7. Name the file minitab.lic.
  8. Copy the new minitab.lic file to the Minitab License Manager installation directory on each computer used in the redundant setup. This directory is C:\Program Files\Minitab\License Manager, or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minitab\License Manager.
  9. Start the License Manager on each computer:
    • In Windows 10, type services.msc in the search box and press Enter.
    • In Windows 8, navigate to the Start Screen area, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • In Windows 7, click the Windows logo (Start) and then choose Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Right-click Minitab License Manager and select Start.
  10. Run lmtools.exe from the installation directory. The file path to this directory is C:\Program Files\Minitab\License Manager, or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minitab\License Manager.
  11. On the Server Status, select Perform Status Enquiry. The following code is an example of what you will see:
Flexible License Manager status on Mon 1/29/2007 15:45
    [Detecting lmgrd processes…]
