How do I configure the Windows Firewall?

If the Windows Firewall is turned on for the computer hosting the license manager, you must configure minitab.exe and lmgrd.exe to accept incoming connections. Complete the following steps to configure the Windows Firewall.

1. Open the Windows Firewall options:
   • Type Windows Defender Firewall in the search box and press Enter.
   • Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall. Click Change settings and then click Allow another app.
2. Browse to the vendor daemon, minitab.exe, which has a default location of:
   • 64-bit version: C:\Program Files\Minitab\License Manager
   • 32-bit version: C:\Program Files (x86)\Minitab\License Manager
3. Select the file and click Open. Then click Add.
4. Repeat Steps 1 to 3. At Step 2, choose lmgrd.exe instead of minitab.exe.
5. Click OK to exit Windows Firewall.
