Archive or restore a template

Only data architects can archive and restore project and tool templates.

Archive a template

Archive a template when you want to retire an outdated or experimental template. When you archive a template, it is removed from the list of new project or tool templates in the desktop app. The template is not permanently deleted and can be restored at any time.
Note

You cannot archive management forms or Monte Carlo templates.

  1. In the sandbox, select Templates.
  2. Locate the project or tool template that you want to archive.
  3. Next to the template to archive, select the archive button . The template moves to the Archived templates list.
  4. To push the changes to the desktop app, return to the sandbox Home page and select Publish Changes. After you publish the changes, the archived templates are no longer available in the desktop app when a user creates new projects or tools.
Note

If a methodology references an archived template, the methodology becomes invalid when you publish the sandbox. To resolve the error, you can restore the archived template, or go to the sandbox Workflow page and assign a new project template to the invalid methodology.

Restore an archived template

You can restore an archived template if you want to reintroduce processes or methodologies.
  1. In the sandbox, select Templates.
  2. Locate the template you want to restore.
    • To restore project templates: Set the Show filter under Project Templates to Archived templates.
    • To restore tool templates: Set the Show filter under Tool Templates to Archived templates. To see archived tool templates, expand the section that contains the archived templates.
  3. Next to the archived template, select the restore button . The restored template appears again in your Archived templates list.
  4. To push the changes to the desktop app, return the sandbox Home page and select Publish Changes. After you publish the changes, the restored templates are available again in the desktop app when a user creates new projects or tool.
