A reliability engineer assesses the failure rate of a specific air conditioning unit that is used in commercial jet planes. The engineer collects failure data for air conditioning units in 13 airplanes. Each time a unit failed, it was repaired and returned to service.
You can use this data to perform a repairable systems analysis and to demonstrate Parametric Growth Curve.
| Worksheet column | Description |
|---|---|
| System | The airplane identification number. Air conditioners from 13 airplanes were sampled. |
| Failure | The number of days between air conditioner repairs. The final time for each system is the final failure for that airplane. |
For instance, data on airplane 1 is contained in rows 1-6. The first repair occurred on day 94, the second repair occurred on day 109, and the final air conditioner failure occurred on day 393.
