Create, submit, and view ideas

When workflow is on, users submit a project idea using the designated idea form. If necessary, users can create a project that is not regulated by workflow. For more information, go to Start a non-workflow project.

An idea is not included in the dashboard. Only workflow projects in the active and completed stages and non-workflow projects that are included in the dashboard contribute to dashboard reports.

  1. The idea form always opens in the desktop app, but you can access it in either of the following ways:
    • In the web app, on the Workflow tab, click New Idea or Project, then click Create Idea.
    • In the desktop app, choose File > New > New Idea > Create Idea.
  2. In the desktop app, complete the idea form. Be sure to complete any data fields required for approval.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the desktop app, click Submit / Review.
  4. In the Project Workflow dialog box, click Submit for Review. If you haven't saved your idea yet, Companion gives you the opportunity to do so before it is submitted.
  5. After you submit your idea, a steering committee is assigned and all of its members are notified. You can also check the status of your idea from the Project Workflow dialog box by clicking View project on the web.

All ideas appear in the Ideas stage on the Workflow tab until a steering committee member approves or rejects them. If you are a steering committee member, go to Review ideas in the hopper.
