Insert departments and phases

Insert departments and phases to create a cross-functional process map from a process map.

Insert departments

  1. Choose Map > Insert Department or Phase, and then click a department option.
  2. While the department is selected, enter a name for it, and then press Tab.

Insert phases

  1. Choose Map > Insert Department or Phase, and then click a phase option.
  2. While the phase is selected, enter a name for it, and then press Tab.

Resize departments and phases

  • To resize a department or a phase, click its label, and then drag a selection handle.

Tip

By default, shapes on a cross-functional process map always remain with the department and phase they are in. To move the border of a department or a phase, press the Alt key as you drag the selection handle.

Start a new cross-functional process map

You can start a new cross-functional map from a preformatted template.

  1. Choose Insert > Process Map.
  2. In the Insert Tool dialog box, click Process Map - Cross Functional, and then click Create.
