Data considerations for Gage Linearity and Bias Study

To ensure that your results are valid, consider the following guidelines when you collect data, perform the analysis, and interpret your results.

Each reference part must have a known measurement
A reference value is the known standard measurement of the reference part. You use the reference value as a master value for comparison during measurement systems analysis. For example, you use a reference part that has a known weight of 0.025 g to calibrate your scales.
Data should be collected in a random order
If you do not collect your data randomly, the results of your analysis may be misleading.
Select parts that represent the actual or expected range of the measurements
Select parts across the actual or expected range of measurements so that you can evaluate whether your gage has the same accuracy for all sizes of parts that the gage measures.
One operator should perform all the measurements
A single operator measures all the parts and all the replicates so that the gage variation from different operators is not a factor.
