About this Document

This document provides an in-depth look at the relationships between form templates, project templates, and data fields within the Qeystone system. It presents the capabilities and limitations of the Qeystone template and data system to help administrators understand the implications and potential ramifications of modifying Qeystone templates and data fields.

Overview of Qeystone

Qeystone is an application designed to manage your company's Lean Six Sigma deployment, from the start of each project to the reporting of key metrics and financials for the entire initiative.

The Qeystone system includes two applications: Qeystone Tools and your Qeystone site.
  • Qeystone Tools is where you create and edit project files. Project files contain the tools and forms that project teams use to carry out their projects.
  • Qeystone.com is where you view the Dashboard and store project files and templates. The Dashboard uses the data in the project files, typically entered through forms, to generate reports and summaries about the entire deployment.

Summary of How Data Works

In Qeystone, data fields are defined in project templates. When you start a project from a project template, the project inherits the data fields that are currently defined in the project template. When you change data fields in a project template, the changes do not affect the projects that were already started from that project template. Team members enter data values into a project by filling out forms in their projects. Forms have input controls that are shared to specific data fields. For more information, go to Forms and Data Sharing.

Qeystone collects all the data fields across all project templates to create an all-inclusive set of data fields for use in Dashboard reports. When you save a project and include it in the Dashboard, Qeystone retrieves the user-entered data values from the set of data fields that match those defined in the templates and makes the data values available in report filters, summaries, column sets, and keyword searches.

Your organization's reporting needs determine the data fields to define in your project templates. The data you define in the templates is then summarized in the Dashboard reports.
