Work with tables in design mode

When you create a form template in design mode, you can modify data tables and layout tables.

Insert rows and columns

Do one of the following:

  • To insert a row, right-click the table where you want to add the row, and then choose Insert > Row.
  • To insert a column, right-click the table where you want to add the column, and then choose Insert > Column.

Insert a form control

  1. Click the cell where you want to insert the control.
  2. Choose Insert > Control and then choose the control.

Change the height of a row

Do one of the following:

  • Drag the row border.
  • Right-click the row and choose Set Row Height.

Change the width of a column

Do one of the following:

  • Drag the column border.
  • Right-click the column and choose Set Column Width.

Split cells

  1. Right-click the cell and then choose Split Cell. In a data table, you cannot split cells in the data entry row.
  2. Split the cell into columns or rows.

Merge cells

  1. Select the cells to merge.
  2. Right-click the cells and choose Merge Cells. In a data table, you cannot merge cells in the data entry row.

Format text, borders, and shading

  1. Select the cells, control, or table to format.
  2. Choose Format > Text, Borders, or Shading.
    Tip

    To use the same set of formatting options multiple times, create and save a Quick Format that you can apply to objects as needed. For more information, see Formatting.
