Create time series plots split across panels

If you have a time series plot with many observations, you can split it across panels to make it more readable.

For example, this time series plot shows the number of people employed in the food and metals industries each month for 5 years. The data have been split into panels.

  1. Choose Graph > Time Series Plot.
  2. Choose the type of graph that you want, then click OK.
  3. Enter the data that you want to graph.
  4. Click Multiple Graphs, then click the By Variables tab.
  5. Under Arrangement, choose Split data across panels.
  6. Under Data per panel, enter the number of data points for each series that you want to appear on each panel. In the example, there are 24 data points per panel.
  7. Click OK.
  8. To specify a time scale for the x-axis, click Time/Scale and choose the scale elements. In the example, the time scale is Calendar: Month.
  9. Click OK in each dialog box.
