Create a probability distribution plot with shaded areas

You can create a plot of a distribution that includes shaded areas for specific probabilities under the curve.

For example this probability distribution plot shows the a normal curve with shaded areas that correspond to a probability of 0.05.

  1. Choose Graph > Probability Distribution Plot.
  2. Choose View Probability and click OK.
  3. From Distribution, choose the type of distribution you want to view. In the example, Normal is the distribution.
  4. Enter the parameters for the distribution. In the example, 0.0 is the Mean and 1.0 is the Standard deviation.
  5. Click the Shaded Area tab.
  6. Under Define Shaded Area By, choose Probability or X Value. In the example, shaded areas are defined by Probability.
  7. Choose the area of the curve you want to shade. In the example, Both Tails was chosen.
  8. In Probability or X value enter the value for the shaded area. In the example, 0.05 is the Probability.
  9. Click OK.
