Use the data pane to view and edit your data.

About the data pane

The data pane contains the data that you analyze in Minitab Express. The data is organized into a worksheet that consists of columns and rows. Each column contains the data for one variable. Each column has a unique ID that starts with a C (C1, C2, and so on). The column IDs are displayed at the top of each column in the worksheet. The cell below the column ID contains the column name. A worksheet can contain up to 100 columns, and 10,000 rows.

The worksheet can contain the following items:
  • A: Worksheet description indicator *
  • B: Worksheet menu arrow
  • C: Model indicator *
  • D: Column description indicator *
  • E: Column names
  • F: Data
Tip

* To view a description, hold the pointer over the indicator.

Enter a column name

To enter a name for a column, type in the column name cell, which is located directly under the column ID.

Enter a column description

To enter a column description, select the column and do one of the following:
  • Mac: Choose View > Show Inspector. In the Inspector, on the columns tab, enter a description.
  • PC: Choose Edit > Column Description and enter a description.

Enter a worksheet description

To enter a worksheet description, do one of the following:
  • Mac: Choose View > Show Inspector. In the Inspector, on the worksheet tab, enter a description in Comments.
  • PC: Click the arrow in the upper left corner of the data pane and select Worksheet Description. Then, enter the information that you want to save with the worksheet.

Resize, move, or hide a pane

To resize a pane, drag one of its edges. To move or hide a pane, do one of the following:
  • Mac: Choose View and then click a display option for the data and output panes.
  • PC: Click the Home tab and then click a display option for the data and output panes.
