Create a scatterplot of a single pair of X and Y variables with groups

In the Scatterplot dialog box, complete the following steps to specify the data for your graph. If your data are arranged differently than described below, go to Choose a scatterplot.

  1. In Y variable, enter the numeric column that you want to explain or predict.
  2. In X variable, enter the numeric column that might explain changes in the Y variable.
  3. In Group variable, enter the column that defines the groups.

In the following worksheet, each row contains the weight and height of one student. Weight is the Y variable and Height is the X variable. Gender is the group variable and indicates the gender of each student. The graph shows the relationship between height and weight for each gender.
