Use Scatterplot to investigate the relationship between a pair of continuous variables. A scatterplot displays ordered pairs of X and Y variables in a coordinate plane. After you create a scatterplot, you can add a fitted regression line and choose a linear, quadratic, or cubic regression model. For more information, go to Customize the scatterplot.
This scatterplot shows that, as highway miles per gallon (X) for a car increase, the city miles per gallon (Y) also increase.
To create a scatterplot, choose , then select the option that matches your data. For more information, go to Choose a scatterplot.
If you want to plot data over time and the data were collected in chronological order at regular intervals, you can use Time Series Plot.
