Create an individual value plot of multiple Y variables with groups

In the Individual Value Plot dialog box, complete the following steps to specify the data for your graph. If your data are arranged differently than described below, go to Choose an individual value plot.

  1. In Variables, enter multiple columns of numeric data that you want to graph.
  2. In Group variable, enter the column of categorical data that defines the groups.

In the following worksheet, Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3 are the variables and contain the diameters of plastic pipes that are manufactured each week for three weeks. Machine is the group variable and indicates whether the pipes are manufactured by machine 1 or machine 2. The graph shows the individual data values for each machine, by week.

C1 C2 C3 C4
Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Machine
5.19 5.57 8.73 1
5.53 5.11 5.01 2
4.78 5.76 7.59 1
... ... ... ...
Note

After you create the graph, you can add graph elements such as confidence intervals and connect lines. For more information, go Customize the individual value plot.
