Create a boxplot of a single Y variable with groups

In the Boxplot dialog box, complete the following steps to specify the data for your graph. If your data are arranged differently than described below, go to Choose a boxplot.

  1. In Y variable, enter the numeric column that you want to graph.
  2. In Group variables, enter one or two columns of categorical data that define the groups.

In the following worksheet, Height is the variable and contains the heights of a sample of plants. Fertilizer is the group variable and indicates which fertilizer each plant was treated with. The graph shows the distribution of plant heights for each fertilizer.
