Use Tally to list the unique values in a column and to count the number of times each value occurs. You can display counts, cumulative counts, percentages, and cumulative percentages.
For example, a market research analyst conducts a survey on cereal preferences and asks each respondent to name their favorite cereal. The analyst can obtain a list of the preferred cereals, the number of respondents that preferred each cereal, and the percentage of respondents who preferred each cereal.
If you want to summarize samples of numeric data to get statistics such as the mean and standard deviation, use Descriptive Statistics.
