Enter your data for Store Column Statistics

On the Data tab of the Store Column Statistics dialog box, choose the option that best describes your data.

All data are in one column

Complete the following steps if your data are in one column and group identifiers are in a second column.

  1. From the drop-down list, select All data are in one column.
  2. In Variable, enter the column of numeric data to analyze.
  3. (Optional) In Group variable , enter the column that contains the group identifier to explore the differences between the groups. Minitab stores the descriptive statistics separately for each group.
In this worksheet, Cost is the variable and contains the repair costs for products A and B. Product is the group variable and indicates whether the cost corresponds to product A or to product B.

Data are in more than one column

Complete the following steps if your data are contained in multiple columns.

  1. From the drop-down list, select Data are in more than one column.
  2. In Variables, enter up to 12 columns of numeric data to analyze. The columns do not have to include the same number of rows.
In this worksheet, Product A contains the repair costs for product A. Product B contains the repair costs for product B.
