Overview for 2 Proportions

Use 2 Proportions to do the following:
  • Determine whether the population proportions of two groups differ.
  • Calculate a range of values that is likely to include the difference between the population proportions.

For example, a university financial aid officer sampled undergraduate students to determine whether male or female students are more likely to get a job in the summer. If the proportions differ, the financial aid officer uses the confidence interval to determine whether the difference is practically significant.
