Welcome to Devize Help

Devize is a subscription-based Monte Carlo simulation web application that simulates product results and provides step-by-step guidance for optimization to determine the best input settings. A Devize subscription allows you to access Devize for one year.

Watch our getting started video to see Devize in action. Familiarize yourself with product features, get helpful tips, and see how Devize is used from start to finish in a realistic example project.

Your Devize Subscription

Devize subscriptions begin immediately upon purchase and allow you to access Devize for one year. You can purchase only one subscription at a time through the Minitab Store. However, each subscription can have up to 100 users. Users on the same subscription are able to share projects with each other, if desired.

Subscription Renewal
Devize subscription orders placed on the Minitab Store will automatically renew every year. After your order has been processed, you have the option to cancel the automatic renewal. You will receive an email notice 14 days before your renewal is charged to your credit card.
Return Policy
You may return a Devize subscription. For more information, please refer to our Return Policy.

System Requirements

Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer 9+, a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher, and an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I start using Devize?
After you purchase Devize, you will receive an email from websupport@minitab.com that welcomes you to the product. It will include information about your subscription and how to establish an account in the Minitab License Portal. After you have verified your account, you will be able to assign the subscription to yourself or to other users and begin using Devize.
What devices can I use to access Devize?
You can access Devize from any device that meets the system requirements. To define the model, you might want to use a device with a keyboard and mouse.
Do I need to have Minitab Statistical Software installed on my computer?
No, Minitab is not required to use Devize.
Can I paste my equation from Minitab into Devize?
Yes, you can copy your equation from Minitab's Session window and paste it directly into Devize. The space between a coefficient and its variable will be interpreted as a multiplier.
How many simulations can I have within a project?
A project can contain an unlimited number of simulations.
How many projects can I have within a subscription?
A subscription can contain an unlimited number of projects.
How can I share my project with others?

Projects can only be shared with users within your Devize subscription. To share a project with another user, go to the project repository, check the box next to the project that you want to share, and then click Share. Type the name or email address of the user within your Devize subscription, specify whether this user can view the project or edit it, and then click Add. After you add a user, you can change sharing settings or designate the user as the owner of the project. A project can only have one owner. If you designate a new owner, you will no longer be the project owner.

If you want to share your results with someone outside your Devize subscription, click Export to export the results to Microsoft PowerPoint.

If I want to use data to select the distribution, what file types can be used?
Devize accepts CSV files.
What is a Monte Carlo simulation study?
A Monte Carlo simulation is a computerized mathematical technique that allows you to account for risk and uncertainty in quantitative analysis and decision making. It provides realistic output values by utilizing the probability distribution and range of possible values specified for each input variable. This technique repeatedly calculates the defined functional equation, each time using a different set of random values from the probability distributions of your inputs. Depending on the number of inputs and the ranges specified, a Monte Carlo simulation could involve tens of thousands of recalculations before it is complete.
How many inputs can I have?
Devize can accept up to 20 input (predictor, X) variables.
How many outputs can I have?
Devize can accept up to nine output (response, Y) variables.
How does Devize find the optimal parameters?
After you define the parameter search ranges and the goal of the optimization, Devize uses a proprietary algorithm to identify new inputs that would result in an improved output with minimized variation. Unless all parameters were already at an optimal setting, the algorithm will determine an improvement.
Why is Ppk used instead of Cpk?
The Cpk calculation includes within-group variation. There is no within-group variation in the simulated data so Devize uses Ppk, which is traditionally associated with overall performance.
